Life story from Los Angeles and Hawaii

Lesson from West Maui wildfire. Once in a lifetime? Now already 4th time! F*** off to AI and EV’s. The matter is human braveness and toughness at contingency.

My classic routine is hideaway to Hawai on early summer (around 2 weeks), but this year we just came back from Kona, West Maui, and Los Angeles with precious lessons on life.

Adios Tesla

Our red-eye flight from KOA to LAX landed as scheduled on the early morning of 5th August (my 59th birthday). LAX and its rent-a-car are 24-hour services and jumped into the shuttle bus to Hertz which has quite distanced from the terminal. Where I found my Tesla Y, the first Tesla experience of my life. Before riding this car, I received many e-mails from Hertz on how to drive safely EVs and now found out why.

2 hours after my renting, I found myself visiting again Hertz to beg the front staff of Gold Desk to change Tesla to a gas car. Now got Nissan Rogue (small SUV) to enjoy the rest of my life in LA, including Anaheim (Indeed Shohei Otani!, which my close neighbor presented us as VIP, and invited my classmate at undergraduates and now general counsel of Los Angeles, Japan Embassy), Riviera Country Club (my neighbor Mr. Watanabe owns)

Why? Me with too much stress with Tesla? When I drove down to Anaheim and came up to the LAX area, the power was already 35% used (like using iPhone 3S a long time ago which had tiny battery life) Compared to this my Lexus hybrid needed to go to the gas station once a month (which saved me at Tohoku 2011). I should drive both watching front and iPad type of screen which has always delayed GPS access. The accel is wired (always set the engine brake when I release) and I cannot find a power…
